PrimeTime Outreach Growing in New York City, Philadelphia

PrimeTime, Scripture Union’s Bible-based after school outreach for at-risk children, is continuing to grow in scope and impact around the country. Recently, that growth has been especially evident in the New York City and Greater Philadelphia areas.

The New York Metro area has a big need for reaching children with God’s Word and PrimeTime is doing just that! In recent months, nineteen new PrimeTime outreach programs have begun in New York City under the auspices of the United Methodist Church there. In addition, two more PrimeTime programs are starting early in 2012 in Harlem—a place where there seems to be very little children’s outreach right now. Another PrimeTime began earlier this year in nearby Mt. Vernon, NY. The NYC Regional Director, Sonia Dobson, organizes and oversees this growing and effective after school outreach.

Exciting New Programs

One of the exciting new PrimeTime programs in New York City is being held at the Manhatten Bible Institute and church. Dr. Richard Christie, church pastor and president of the Institute, is a charter member of SU’s Northeast Regional Council, based in New York City. This program may well become a model for after school children’s outreach in Harlem.

In addition to new and exciting outreach efforts in the New York City area, PrimeTime continues to reach increasing numbers of at-risk children in the Philadelphia area. Nine new programs started at the beginning of the school year and new programs are being planned. PrimeTime is going wherever children are to bring them the “Good News” of God’s love in Jesus every day after school.

PrimeTime Active in 20 States

There are currently PrimeTime programs active in 20 states reaching over 2500 children each week. If your church wants to reach children with God’s Good News after school, PrimeTime offers three sets of full school year (40 week) curricula: “The Big Story” (an overview of the message of the Bible), Following Jesus (a discipleship focus) and “Heroes of the Faith” (offering children biblical and contemporary models of faith). “The Big Story” is also available in Spanish (“La Gran Historia”).
